US stock market hours, with Tashkent and Moscow time

Beginner · 3 min read · figures as of Nov 5, 2026
Short answer

The NYSE and NASDAQ regular session runs from 9:30 to 16:00 New York time. In summer that is 18:30–01:00 in Tashkent and 16:30–23:00 in Moscow; in winter, after the US switches to standard time, 19:30–02:00 in Tashkent and 17:30–00:00 in Moscow. Pre-market starts at 4:00 and after-hours runs until 20:00 New York time.

Daylight saving time.

The US changes clocks on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November. Uzbekistan and Russia do not, so the market open shifts by an hour twice a year.

Pre-market and after-hours.

Trading outside the regular session is thinner: fewer buyers and sellers and wider spreads. Companies usually report in these hours, so the sharpest moves often start there.

Weekends and holidays.

The market is closed on weekends and US holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
