Where to see stock charts for free, and what matters in them
Free stock charts are available from your broker, on exchange websites and on open pages such as our stock pages. A decision needs not every feature but five: candles for a year or more, volume, the 50- and 200-day averages, earnings dates and a comparison with the market. Check whether these are free and how delayed the price is.
Daily candles for at least a year, weekly for several years. A short window shows neither the base nor the trend.
Volume bars under the candles: a rise on heavy volume matters more than one on a quiet market.
The 50- and 200-day averages show the trend; earnings marks show when the price may gap.
Free data is often delayed by 15 minutes. That is fine for swing trading and critical for intraday trades.
Our stock pages show the price, a six-month trend, the earnings date and answers to common questions without logging in. The terminal has the full chart with candles, volume, ratings, earnings marks, indicators and a screener.

Does a beginner need a paid chart?
No. For the first months a free chart with volume and averages is enough.
