How to buy US stocks from Uzbekistan

Beginner · 7 min read · figures as of Nov 5, 2026
Short answer

You need a broker with access to the NYSE and NASDAQ that opens accounts for residents of Uzbekistan. The account is opened remotely with a passport and funded by a dollar bank transfer or a card, depending on the broker. Trading runs in the evening and at night Tashkent time. Stock income is declared in Uzbekistan by 1 April of the following year.

Three routes.

An international broker that accepts clients from Uzbekistan gives direct access to US exchanges. A local brokerage reaches foreign markets through a partner. The Republican Stock Exchange «Toshkent» lists only Uzbek companies, so there are no US stocks there.

Documents and opening the account.

A passport, proof of address and a questionnaire are usually enough. The broker will ask about your tax residency; for US securities you fill in form W-8BEN, which certifies that you are not a US resident.

Funding and withdrawals.

Most often this is a currency transfer from a bank in Uzbekistan (SWIFT) or a card top-up. The broker's funding section says what it accepts. Send and withdraw a small amount first: that shows the real fees and timing.

Trading hours.

The regular session is 18:30–01:00 Tashkent time in summer and 19:30–02:00 in winter. Tashkent or Samarkand makes no difference: the whole country is in one time zone.

Your first purchase.

Find the stock by ticker (AAPL, NVDA), place a limit order, the price above which you will not buy, and decide on the stop right away. A market order at the open can fill noticeably higher.

Tax.

A resident of Uzbekistan declares foreign income by 1 April of the following year and pays the tax by 1 June. Rates and an example are in the tax article.
